Roomy is for everyone aged 13 and over, so these rules are strict on purpose. They cover everything in a room: the handle, the links, the pictures and how it's arranged.

Child safety comes first

We have zero tolerance for anything that sexualises anyone under 18: pictures, links, handles, anything.

If we find it, we remove it, close the account, report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and keep what the law requires. We do the same for rooms or links used to target children.

If you see it, use the Report link on the room and choose "Child safety".

If a child is in danger right now, call your local police. You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org) or, in the UK, to the Internet Watch Foundation (report.iwf.org.uk).

What's not allowed

Don't put anything in your room, link to anything, or pick a handle that:

• sexualises anyone under 18, in any way;
• is sexual: no nudity or sexual pictures, and no links to porn, adult sites or sexual services;
• attacks people for who they are: race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age. That includes hate symbols, which still show at picture size;
• harasses, bullies or threatens anyone, or shares someone's private details, like their address or phone number;
• encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders;
• supports terrorism or violent extremism, or celebrates real violence;
• shows graphic violence or gore;
• is a scam, phishing or malware, or a link that pretends to go somewhere it doesn't;
• is spam: mass-made rooms, link farms, fake giveaways;
• impersonates a person, a brand, an organisation or Roomy staff;
• sells or promotes illegal things, such as drugs or weapons;
• promotes gambling, alcohol, tobacco or vapes, which aren't for people under 18;
• uses someone else's work without permission (see the Copyright policy), or shows a real person who hasn't agreed;
• breaks the law in any other way.

Pictures are tiny, 62 by 54 pixels, but the rules still apply. Symbols and short words survive the shrink.

Keep yourself safe

Your room is public. Don't put your home address, your school, your phone number or anything else private in it.

How reports work

• Every room has a Report link at the bottom. You don't need an account to use it.
• Pick the reason that fits best: Child safety, Spam, Impersonation, Hate or harassment, Sexual content, Scam or malware link, or Other.
• There's nowhere to type, on purpose. You pick a reason and send.
• A person reads every report, child safety reports first. We aim to read each one within 48 hours.
• The room's owner is never told who reported it.
• We don't reply to each report, but we act on every one that breaks these rules.
• For copyright, use the Copyright policy. For anything else the Report link can't cover, email abuse@roo.my.

What happens when a rule is broken

Depending on what happened, we may:

• remove a picture or a link;
• unpublish the room, while we look or for good;
• take back the handle;
• suspend or close the account;
• report it to the police, or to NCMEC.

Anything that sexualises children, and other serious harm, loses the account straight away. Repeated smaller breaks lead to bigger steps.

Where we can, we tell the owner what we did and why, in the editor, and by email if their account has an email address. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal: see Complaints and appeals in the Terms.
