Terms of use

The short version
- Roomy is for people aged 13 and over.
- Your room is public, and you're responsible for what's in it.
- Follow the Guidelines. We remove what breaks them.
- Handles can't be sold. We can take back a handle that is misused.
- Coins, Roomy's currency, are earned, never sold, and have no cash value.
- Roomy comes as it is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
Who we are
These terms are an agreement between you and Quartz Apps LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company whose post goes to c/o Cloud Peak Law, 1309 Coffeen Ave STE 1200, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States ("we" or "us"). We run Roomy at roo.my.
By using Roomy, you agree to these terms, the Guidelines, the Privacy policy and the Copyright policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Roomy.
Who can use Roomy
- You must be 13 or older, and at least the minimum age the law sets for services like Roomy where you live.
- You can't use Roomy if we have closed your account before, or if the law doesn't allow you to.
Your account
- You sign in with Discord or with a link we email you. There are no passwords.
- Keep your Discord account and your email secure. Anyone who gets into them can get into your Roomy account.
- One person, one account, one room. Don't make extra accounts to hold extra handles.
- You're responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us at support@roo.my. You can also sign out every other device in Settings.
Don't misuse Roomy
Don't:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- use bots or scripts to make accounts, claim handles or send reports;
- attack, overload, scrape or probe Roomy, or get around our limits or blocks;
- collect information about other people from Roomy;
- pretend to be Roomy, Quartz or our staff.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at security@roo.my before telling anyone else.
Handles
Your handle is the name in your address: roo.my/yourname. It is 2 to 24 characters long: letters, numbers, dashes and underscores.
- First come, first served.
- Some names are reserved. You can't claim words Roomy uses for its own pages (like privacy or shop), names that could pass for Roomy staff (like support or admin), offensive words, or names we are holding for a person or organisation. For now, names of 2 to 4 characters are held back too, and will open later.
- No selling. You may not sell, rent, trade or give away a handle or a room, or offer to. A handle is not your property.
- We may take a handle back if it:
- impersonates a person, brand or organisation, or misleads people about who runs the room;
- infringes a trademark or someone else's rights;
- was claimed with bots or extra accounts, or in order to sell it;
- is used to break these terms or the Guidelines;
- belongs to an account nobody has signed in to for 24 months. We will email you first if your account has an email address, and give you 30 days to sign in and keep it.
- A freed handle waits. When a handle is freed, by you or by us, nobody can claim it for 90 days, so old links to it don't lead straight to a stranger's room. A handle we take back for impersonation or a trademark may instead be held for, and given to, the person or organisation with the right to it.
Your room and what you put in it
You own what you make and upload. You're responsible for it: your handle, your links, your pictures and your choices.
When you add something to your room, you promise that you have the right to share it, and that it follows the Guidelines and the law.
The licence you give us. To run Roomy, we need your permission to show your room. So you give Quartz Apps LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt, display and share your room and everything in it. "Adapt" includes shrinking a picture to 62 by 54 pixels and 20 colours, and making share cards. The licence covers roo.my, the share cards and link previews that other apps show, and suggesting your room to people visiting other rooms. If you make your room Unlisted in Settings, we don't suggest it anywhere. We won't use your room in advertising for Roomy outside roo.my without asking you first.
The licence ends when you remove something or delete your account. Copies other apps have already made may remain, backups last until they expire (about 8 weeks), and we keep anything the law requires.
Links. Your links must go where they say they go. They lead to websites we don't run, and we're not responsible for those sites. We check links that can lead anywhere on the web against a list of unsafe sites when you save them and again every week, and we may block or remove a link.
Pictures. Only upload pictures you made or have permission to use. Never upload a picture of someone who hasn't agreed to it.
Our part of Roomy
The furniture, decorations and other art, the Roomy name and look, and the software belong to Quartz Apps LLC or to the artists who licensed them to us.
You may use them in your room, and share screenshots and pictures of your room anywhere. You may not copy the art out of Roomy, sell it, or use it anywhere else.
Coins
Coins are Roomy's currency. You earn them and spend them inside Roomy.
- You earn them. You can't buy them. You get coins by the rules shown on your Wallet, in Settings: today, when you claim a room, when a friend you invited makes a room that goes live, and when people tip your room. We may change those rules, add ways to earn, or set limits, such as how many coins a day one way can earn or how much you can tip.
- We don't sell them, and nobody else may sell, buy or trade them.
- They have no cash value. Coins are not money and not your property. They can't be exchanged for money, or for anything outside Roomy, and nothing is paid out for them.
- They stay in your account. You can't transfer coins to anyone, except by the tips and gifts Roomy offers.
- You spend them inside Roomy, on things for your room, or to tip a room you like. We may change what things cost.
- We can adjust them. If coins were earned by breaking these terms, for example with extra accounts, bots or invites that aren't real, we can remove them, and what they were spent on. We also correct mistakes in a balance, up or down.
- When an account ends, its coins end. If your account is deleted or closed, or Roomy closes, any coins left are gone.
- Buying coins may come later. If it does, it will be under terms that say so, and we will tell you before they apply.
Keeping people safe
The rules. The Guidelines say what isn't allowed on Roomy. They are part of these terms.
Illegal content.
- Child sexual exploitation and abuse is never allowed. We remove it, close the account, report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and keep what the law requires.
- Terrorist content is never allowed. We remove it, close the account, and may report it to the police.
- Other illegal content, such as threats, fraud, hate crime, or selling drugs or weapons: we remove it, act on the account, and may report it to the police.
How we find it.
- Reports. Anyone can report a room with the Report link at the bottom of it. A person reads every report. See How reports work.
- Review. We look at newly uploaded pictures.
- Automated checks. Handles are checked against a list of offensive words. Every uploaded picture is compared with fingerprints of pictures we have removed, and a close match is refused. Links that can lead anywhere on the web are checked against a list of unsafe sites when saved, and again every week. We also use Cloudflare's CSAM Scanning Tool, which compares what roo.my serves against known child sexual abuse material. These checks can refuse an upload or block a link on their own. Decisions about your account are made by a person.
What we can do. If something breaks these terms or the Guidelines, we may remove it, block a link, unpublish a room, take back a handle, or suspend or close an account. We may act without warning where there is a risk of harm. Where we can, we tell the room's owner what we did and why, in the editor, and by email if the account has an email address.
Complaints and appeals
You can complain to us about:
- illegal content, or content harmful to children, on Roomy;
- a decision we made about your room, a picture, a link, a handle or your account (an appeal);
- how we handled a report;
- being wrongly treated as under 13;
- us not following these terms.
Email support@roo.my with your handle if you have one, the room it's about, and what went wrong. We'll reply within 14 days. If we got it wrong, we'll put it right, for example by restoring what we removed.

Ending your account
- You can stop using Roomy at any time, and delete your account, yourself in Settings or by asking us. The Privacy policy says how, and what that removes.
- We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the Guidelines, if the law requires it, or to protect people. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright. If we close your account, don't make a new one.
- If we ever close Roomy, we'll tell account holders at least 60 days before.
Changes
Roomy changes over time: we may add, change or remove features.
When we change these terms, we change the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email where we have your address, and with a notice on roo.my, at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless it must happen sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you keep using Roomy after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
Disclaimers
Roomy is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always work, be free of errors, or never lose anything. We're not responsible for other websites, including the ones rooms link to.
If you're a consumer in the UK or the EU, you have legal rights that these terms can't take away.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows:
- we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill;
- our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
The law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of Wyoming and of the United States.
- If something goes wrong, please talk to us first at support@roo.my. Most problems can be fixed that way.
- Otherwise, disputes go to the state and federal courts for Sheridan County, Wyoming.
- If you're a consumer in the UK or the EU, you can also go to your own courts, and you keep the protection of your own country's laws.
General
- If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over Roomy. You may not transfer them.
- These terms, with the Guidelines and the policies they name, are the whole agreement between us about Roomy.
- Roomy isn't made by or connected with Discord. Signing in with Discord also follows Discord's own terms.
